THE FOURTH DIMENSION SIMPLIFIED

THE FOURTH DIMENSION SIMPLIFIED
(Lakshay Raja)

Think of an isolated point, x, small enough to be considered the zeroth dimension. The x, identifies another point near it and starts multiplying itself, moving forward to meet the other point and unknowingly forms a line behind it.

Just like this dot (.) when expands, forms a line
This newly formed isolated line sees another line and tries to connect it with all possible positions to form a square.

Imagine the two dimensional beings living in this two dimensional square. The beings, smart enough to imagine a three dimensional world dream of operating themselves in a three dimensional space If only they could. Silly eh?

The two dimensional square observes a similar square and starts multiplying itself to meet it and unknowingly forms a cubic world as it expands.

The world now is three dimensional and there lives the three dimensional beings. The beings are smart enough to imagine the fourth dimension, which is TIME and the four dimensional world where they could move themselves back and forth in the past, present and the future. Silly, just like the two dimensional beings.

A hollow cube when multiplies and moves forward to meet the other cube, forms a tunnel, which is the fourth dimension. The tunnel consists of an entire universe and the starting point is where the big bang occurred. All the things move forward in the fourth dimensional tunnel with time.

The life of a human being takes a tiny part of this tunnel and moves, just like everything in the tunnel and ends before the tunnel could end. The time in the tunnel moves ahead constantly and so do us and all the other things. There is no point imagining the gone time.

The four dimensional tunnel, sees another four dimensional parallel tunnel, comprising of another universe and tries to expand itself to meet it and form the fifth dimension. The two tunnels when seen from a distance, look like two lines expanding to form a square and the same process continues to form the higher dimensions.
