10 to the 100th power

A company equal to 10 to the 100th power

or maybe more. So, what do you people have in mind? What am I really going to talk about? Even I’m not sure. But forgive me, if I might hurt a couple or two, but I really feel somewhat moved by my own thoughts lately.

What exactly can a company, a leader, a brand with a power of almost 10100 units {if power (not in watts, or any other derivatives) only had one} do to/with/in a world like ours? After all, it’s all lead by humans, punch me in the face if I say anything wrong. But before a large destruction, or an attempt, there is always manipulation, building of an empire, linking, and of course, happiness. To be more precise, dependence. Our government has a control over us only because we are dependent upon it. Now, the government can generate a warfare, but what good could possibly come from it? Earlier, we had kings, and rulers. One body, million dependencies. Even though we might not see it that way, but was that secure? Or, was that *fair* in a way? I, on my part, don’t think so. Not that today’s system(s) are well-behaved, but it is still better than a single view deciding for a million of us. I mean, seeing things from different views, approaching them with different perspectives, isn’t that what an educated person does?

Anyway, we can come to that later, but the very reason I am writing this post is because one evening (no, I’m not getting paid for writing this, just curious) I had this thought while surfing the web that everywhere I look, everywhere I see. From my TV till my Cell phone and I don’t know what more. I mean, the best from the best known tech projects are actually in the hands of a very beautiful trust. Yes, even this site you are reading this post on, was/is developed by that very interesting name. Now, in this world, I don’t think the people are actually surrounded by anything as badly as they are by Google products. I don’t mean any harm, and trust me, this name is revolution, actually! I am an intermediate (oh who am I kidding, I have a life because of Google) dependent on Google. But this thought, of a destruction gave me a little blow. And I think if this, had not occurred to Google yet, this could be a blow on the next April fool’s day maybe?

Since we are so badly surrounded by this brand’s products and projects, Google can actually ruin everything. If only it were in wrong hands. I mean, not to worry or something but doesn’t it click when you suddenly realise that all the accounts you have, almost everything, is registered under this very name. They know what you searched in the past week, month, since the very first time. Your browser, is capable of accessing almost everything. Your phone, is totally in the hands of Google. Most of your data might be online, on your drive. Yes, this company respects privacy, but just for a moment. What if by some means, the company fell in the hands of a negative (from our view) brain? This company can actually rule us all.

Most of the advanced projects are developed by google. I actually feel safe when I read that name but if something as such happened, it’s going to be terrible. But what if Google is just a way to keep an eye on every other person? You know what I mean, a face? That could be a superb idea. What if this was some secrecy that the governments wanted to keep only to them? Like, they say we have to keep an eye on the people, but we can’t do it on-stage. We need a performer. And bam!

Now, the reason to not be afraid of this and to be afraid of it, are exactly the same. You don’t need to be afraid of this because you know that no matter what you do, somebody is always watching you. But also, the fact that someone constantly knows about every step you make could scare some hell out of you too.

Even if you know that you are not doing anything wrong, someone always watching you, does pinch deep. If not a lot, a little is enough to think about it.

Having everything settled at one place is pretty nice and bug-free. But is it safe to rely on one?

BOOK REVIEW

MEN WHO HATE WOMEN
(Lakshay Raja)

The actual title for the Swedish book ‘the girl with the dragon tattoo’. When was the last I got my hands on a book that challenges all the aspects of a society or a nation? Maybe, never before. A Swedish writer who comes up of nowhere and writes something, anyone would mistake it to be his thirtieth plus novel.

The first book in the Millennium trilogy and first of the three books Stieg Larsson ever wrote before he died unexpectedly, soon after delivering the trilogy to his publisher, the book got me gripped right until the last page. Words, that arouse the curiosity to know of the functionality of cooperations, quotes that cleverly target upon the blind faiths and events that would make you learn and know more of the world around you and all what goes inside a person when put into a situation, all of that experience, sitting in a room and with this masterpiece in your hand.

RECOMMENDED FOR? - Surely not for a below 14. Or most of the times either you would be wondering, ‘does all that really happen?’ or ‘Why do they not get to the point and keep it all easy?’

RATING - Five on five for me. Might differ for you completely if you are not into reading something that would take almost hundred pages before rising into the action.

WORTH STARTING THE TRILOGY? - Definitely. Worth giving the first book a try.

WHERE DOES IT LACK? - If you are not into reading a complex plot or understand way too many characters or figuring the wrong guy/girl through the entire story, this might be a big disappointment.

How EDM Is Killing Us....Question Mark.

Of course, we live in a world driven by tech but I’m quite sure your dad or mom did not copulate with a computer to produce you(unless...). The same way music was intended to be played on instruments rather than your sick, emotion-less computers. I mean, just because they’re out of their time, why should we even bother to look at Jimmy page, Hendrix or Clapton now? They were idiots, weren’t they? For spending years of their lives creating legendary tracks and having a life worth living. A life not automated by your tech shit.

Music is not just synthesis rehearse. I could count the vision too, with one person along with music, tapes, and recordings. You know singing (what? Fart noises), speaking and using machines. But is that music actually worth it? Taking two or more ALREADY RECORDED tracks, merging them at different intervals, applying filters at different points of times, creating loops worth a second or two and telling everybody that a laptop/computer and a pair of good headphones is all you need to make music? Well, yeah! For sure, because guitars, drums, cellos and every other instrument was made to just be used as a sample in a DAW for creating a few minutes of what had absolutely no brainstorming, or “work” involved? Or, shall i say, only "work" was involved?

First off, stop calling yourselves musicians, you sick pieces of computer freaks. Instead of spending time on software and automated material, try to learn to code or at least pick up a fucking instrument and get some real hands on to actually get a taste of what real music sounds like. It would be much appreciated if you actually knew what you were doning, inside-out. Need something to drive you crazy? Pick up a saxophone or buy a drum kit and get a taste of how reality sounds like. Want to experience real eargasms? Just a normal sine-bass (I hope you know what it means, if you don’t. I’m sorry, you suck as a producer.) Is never gonna work for that. Ever wondered what fender is? Gibson, Pearl? Anyone? No? I have a high enough rooftop, and you’re totally welcome. If you’re afraid to jump, let me have a hand in your fate.

I am not being paid for writing this (but you still suck) but what I hate about you people is that you think not knowing how to play any instrument and calling yourself a musician is ok. No, you don’t make music, you jizzhead! You take just a couple of algorithms, created by someone else, not even knowing what’s going on, hitting random keys on your motherfucking keyboard, and telling yourself “yeah! That sounds good! Its music!”(it does sound good sometimes, but not mostly. Most of them out there have no idea of whats happening on the back-end. This is what sucks even more. People have spent years to geet to perfection of the softwares we use today. We simply cant have 'no-idea' of it.) You fuckface, you don’t even know how to hold a motherfucking guitar and you think youre a musician? To hell with you and your sick piece of shit.
But you know what, you are not the one to be blamed. I like EDM too. But the sheer fact of focus on bringing everything at ease is simply ruining our time, money, brains and emotions. A student from 8th standard, feels like a girl’s magnet just because he is able to produce “music” like Martin Garrix. And he considers himself a musician, while he hasn’t even seen or heard Martin Garrix play an instrument (I loved your Instagram post!). He dominates his elder brother, who is in 2nd year of college just because he is proud of his “art”. A fresher in my college, who happens to be a producer himself, was asked the question “what instruments do you play?” “Keys.” Was his answer to which he was questioned if he meant the piano. He answered that he was a producer and he meant the keyboard on his laptop -_________- . I happened to ask him why he not played any instrument. And “what’s the need to?” was his answer. Don’t get me wrong. Not that I care, but you need to know how important music is. And I mean music, not the same bass drum or synth and patterns in every freaking track. You need to know what riffs, bridge and chorus are instead of using the same snare build up with pitch increment and then a drop. And what more? Copy the track from the beginning till the end of the drop, and paste it after the end of the drop. You have a track? No! It takes fucking effort to write lyrics and riffs over instruments and that dedicated time, interest and emotion that totally lacks in your “music”.

You don’t even know what’s going on behind your synth and yet you think you’re a great musician(or technician, i must say)? Do you know about co-ordination? How four (considering a band of 4) or more musicians combine to make a beautifully crafted piece of true dedication? True art? You need to understand why this is a thing of concern to everyone. People are losing art in the hands of technology and something that is not true in the form that we see it, or need to look at it. Using the same software someone else does too in a little different resonating amount does not make you a musician. It does not ease your mind. Ever wondered what your brain is when you’re playing an instrument? There’s literally fireworks going on in your brain. Whenever i am in an emotionally unstable or overloaded state, I make music or at least try to, when I feel like. And never have I ever recorded myself being eased off by my synths or beats as much as I have felt in true love with my guitar and bass. As a matter of fact, I have always been negative whenever I have tried to produce rather than play.

Im not saying that electronic music is bad, or is not good at all. Even I am an electronic musician in the making. But I think its unfair, to the musicians, as well as the coders of out software synthesizers that we, as consumers, as musicians are not respecting them enough. People are losing art in the hands of things they have absolutely NO idea about. Moreover, we are becoming business people instead of artists, and this needs to be controlled right now. I dont see a good future of artists if this keeps going on as it is right now. If it makes the picture clearer to you, you are losing 'you' in this.

There is a huge difference people. A whole different dimensional world is being given up for the sake of ease.
What would you like more? An 18 year old, playing pre-recorded tracks at different intervals or the same 18 year old putting everything he has, every bit of himself, blowing your minds with his amazing instruments, including his own production? And of course, live. You simply see what takes more out and in to a person. Or must I say, what kind of music. Of course, there is a reason why people like the famous DJs and artists are where they are. But then, there is also a reason why the DJs are not called Artists.

A REVOLUTION ON ITS WAY!

A REVOLUTION ON ITS WAY!
(Sonali Bhatia)

If there's one place where 'nobody is perfect' doesn't fit in, it is the trending Fashion Industry. From tip to toe and left to right, everything needs to be perfect. Be it model’s height, style, attitude or weight. Apart from everything, for being a perfect model, measurements matter a lot in the industry. For a model, it requires a lot of hard work to be fit.

But what defines a perfect and fit model? Answer is clear -  a zero size figure. Surprisingly this only applies for our Indian Fashion Industry. The scenario in the west is a complete opposite to what we see in most of the asian fashion Industries . A curvy revolution is taking over the west. There is a remarkable rise in the demand for plus size models, as they are comfortable in their skin and are accepted. Clothes are being made and endorsed in broader range of sizes. Women are responding eagerly to the sight of models that look like real people.

Inspired from this revolutionary change in the industry, a documentary, called Straight/Curvy is also set for release next year. The documentary is directed by Jenny McQuaile; according to her the documentary follows the journey of successful curvy models.

But back home the scenario is grim. There is no single agency to handle plus size models. Moreover, these models face additional scrutiny due to the negative cultural view of fat. The concept of plus size model is very difficult to be introduced and followed by the Indian Fashion Industry as the audience over here is not ready for a full-fledged show. This is probably because fashion in India is in its beginning stage. Abroad, it's a very old industry, and they're coming up with different ways and different trends. In India plus size modelling would become a trend if you’re selling clothes for only particular target audience but not everyone would accept that.

However, we still have a long way to go. Breaking society’s norms is difficult but not impossible. A curvy revolution has already started and will continue to change the fashion industry.

HIGHWAY OF TEARS

HIGHWAY OF TEARS
(Lakshay Raja)

Twenty six year old Gloria Moody was last seen alive on October 25, 1969. Her body was found in woods near ‘Highway 16’ (Canada). Twenty years old Madison Scott vanished on the same highway on May 28, 2011. Sixteen other women (mostly between 15 to 25) have either gone missing or died mysteriously in these forty two years (1969 - 2011) in a section of this highway that stretches along 724 km.

Eighteen possible murders in forty two years, known to be the highway of tears, the figure is claimed to be more than thirty by some. Seven bodies still haven't been discovered and the mystery of any women or girl hasn’t been solved over these four decades.

Madison Scott is the recent one to disappear. She and a group of fifty others partied, close to Hogback lake near highway 16 on May 28, 2011. That fateful night, Madison’s friends had left her alone near the lake, completely alone. There were people that were going to stay up with her. But one by one, everyone packed up and left. Everyone, but Madison.

There have been posters and boards all along or near the highway, with the stories of disappearances. There’s been forests and lakes and what not, all around and finding the bodies seem next to impossible.

How could a serial killer of 1969, barely able to walk properly, if alive, possibly disappear somebody in 2011? There has been no community living in around the forest.

The highway has never been closed down.

Virtual Vision

People call you blind,
But I can't seem to find.
The reason of your beautiful smile,
That spreads across your face like Nile.

What do you see? And what do you feel?
In this bright vibrant world where nothing is still.
The tress, the birds and the people might seem so dark,
I wonder how you manage to keep up your spark.

You might know how to see the 'real' in people,
Not the fake shroud, but the one inside the bubble.
And praise them for the gem they really are,
Because we normal people, see only war.

So who is really blind? You or me?
You can feel things but I can only see.
Some say you are always dependent now,
But before you my virtual vision bows.

THE FOURTH DIMENSION SIMPLIFIED

THE FOURTH DIMENSION SIMPLIFIED
(Lakshay Raja)

Think of an isolated point, x, small enough to be considered the zeroth dimension. The x, identifies another point near it and starts multiplying itself, moving forward to meet the other point and unknowingly forms a line behind it.

Just like this dot (.) when expands, forms a line
This newly formed isolated line sees another line and tries to connect it with all possible positions to form a square.

Imagine the two dimensional beings living in this two dimensional square. The beings, smart enough to imagine a three dimensional world dream of operating themselves in a three dimensional space If only they could. Silly eh?

The two dimensional square observes a similar square and starts multiplying itself to meet it and unknowingly forms a cubic world as it expands.

The world now is three dimensional and there lives the three dimensional beings. The beings are smart enough to imagine the fourth dimension, which is TIME and the four dimensional world where they could move themselves back and forth in the past, present and the future. Silly, just like the two dimensional beings.

A hollow cube when multiplies and moves forward to meet the other cube, forms a tunnel, which is the fourth dimension. The tunnel consists of an entire universe and the starting point is where the big bang occurred. All the things move forward in the fourth dimensional tunnel with time.

The life of a human being takes a tiny part of this tunnel and moves, just like everything in the tunnel and ends before the tunnel could end. The time in the tunnel moves ahead constantly and so do us and all the other things. There is no point imagining the gone time.

The four dimensional tunnel, sees another four dimensional parallel tunnel, comprising of another universe and tries to expand itself to meet it and form the fifth dimension. The two tunnels when seen from a distance, look like two lines expanding to form a square and the same process continues to form the higher dimensions.
